CCA Pays Tribute to Patron, Bruce Kent

Catholic Concern for Animals is vey sad to hear about the death of its Patron, Bruce Kent. He died on 8th June 2022 at the age of 92 following a short illness.

Bruce was ordained as a Catholic priest for the Diocese of Westminster and served as secretary to Cardinal Heenan in several London parishes and was the Roman Catholic Chaplain to the University of London. He held a law degree from Brasenose College, Oxford.

His Christian faith made him speak out against nuclear armament. He was a Vice President of CND, a Vice President of Pax Christi, Emeritus President of the Movement for the Abolition of War and an Honorary Fellow of Brasenose College. He was awarded the Lambeth Cross for Ecumenism by the Archbishop of Canterbury. He was committed to many peace and human and animal rights campaigns, and was a powerful speaker at their events.

CCA will miss his warm and generous spirit and his great commitment to peace for both humans and animals.
