World Youth Day 2016 really took off today with the arrival of Pope Francis into Krakow.

I spent the morning at the Laudato Si’ Eco-Village meeting young people from many countries and continents and explaining to them the message of Pope Francis in his Encyclical letter on the Environment in general and on animals in particular and I was delighted how many young people were genuinely interested in the subJect of Animal welfare and who took away copies of the ARK to read.

It was then hot footed back into Krakow centre by tram to await the arrival of the Pope. The city was packed with young people trying to get a glimpse of the Pope and the atmosphere and celebratory mood was fantastically uplifting-Pope Francis has regenerated and reinvigorated the church and these tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of young people gathered in one place are testimony to that fact.

The Laudato Si’ Ec0-Village was set up yesterday by members of the Global Catholic Climate Movement and officially opens today for visitors to WYD 2016 and other interested individuals.

The Eco-village will explain to people the message from Pope Francis’ ground breaking Encyclical letter on the state of the environment and what needs to be done in response to Climate change and tomorrow (Wednesday) I will be at the village for most of the day giving talks on the work of CCA and meeting people.

Today I am leaving Krakow for  a brief while to travel to Katowice to meet CCA members and visit animal projects in Poland.

World Youth Day 2016-Krakow

I am planning to blog on CCA activities regularly at World Youth Day 2016 and other CCA activities whilst I am in Poland and I arrived late last night into Krakow after a very long journey following major flight delays at Gatwick which meant missed connections to Krakow.

Anyway I now feel fully recovered and Krakow is lovely and warm today and I am going to meet up with colleagues from the Global Catholic Climate Movement (GCCM)later today and visit the Laudato Si’ Eco-Village which is being set up today in time for its formal opening at midday tomorrow (Tuesday).

Then time for a quick look around Krakow and its churches ahead of further meetings this evening.

Whilst in Poland, I will also be meeting with senior Polish members of CCA and will be hopefully visiting some Polish Animal Welfare projects
